 Head in the Clouds

A sweeping romantic drama set in 1930's England, Paris, and Spain. Hedonist Gilda Besse used her passionate lifestyle, wealth and society connections to mask her undercover activities for the British Secret Service. Shot in Canada and France, studio sets were built for most of the interiors and the Montmartre sequences. Great attention was paid to the changing look of Paris in the pre-war and wartime periods. Art, couture, music, theatre and literature collapsed or atrophied under the siege of Nazi control. Seeking out these contrasts and the tragic course of Gilda’s life formed the core of the design of the film.
